ODBC Driver

Overview

Special reports for management or layout diagrams using the data in the Benchmate database is made possible using the ODBC Driver.  Our ODBC Driver provides quick and convenient access for third party software such as Crystal Reports, MS Access and Vision to read Benchmate data using Microsoft supported query techinques.

The Benchmate ODBC Driver provides read-only access to the Benchmate database files from third party applications such as Crystal Reports™, Microsoft Access© or your own ODBC-compliant application. The Driver is commonly used to create custom reports and can be used concurrently with Benchmate CMMS.

Discussion

The Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) interface from Microsoft has emerged as the standard interface mechanism for client applications to access databases created by different sources. Applications supporting ODBC merely select a database (e.g.: Benchmate) and connect transparently to that data source.

The Benchmate ODBC driver, consisting of components by Faircom Corporation and Benchmate Systems, Inc. translates standard ODBC function calls from the application program (e.g.: Crystal Reports) into calls the Benchmate database can process, and returns data to the application. Any Microsoft Windows tool or application that supports the ODBC call library can use the Benchmate CMMS database.

Configuration

The Driver is licensed by seat rather than by number of users. That is, you must purchase a license for each computer on which you will use the ODBC driver. It is a single thread driver – meaning only one application at-a-time may use the driver. If several applications need to use this driver simultaneously, multiple licenses must be installed. Per Seat licensing is a requirement of FairCom Corporation, the developer of the c-tree© database library used by Benchmate CMMS.
